During the last years, the mapping of magnetic fields has been improved thanks to concerted international efforts to measure, publish, and compile magnetic data at different altitudes and spatial scales. The World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map (WDMAM), a global near-surface map of the lithospheric field that integrates airborne, marine, and satellite coverage, as well as the Swarm satellite mission offers unprecedented possibilities, as well as new challenges, to model the magnetic field.
In this symposium, we solicit contributions on the lithospheric magnetic field mapping and modelling and on its tectonic interpretation at all spatial scales.
