This symposium honors the 50th anniversary of J.D.A. Zijderveld’s fundamental paper on using vector analysis for the analysis of paleomagnetic data. We call for contributions in the broad field of tectonic applications of paleomagnetic and AMS data. We encourage contributions that deal with application of paleomagnetic investigations to global and regional paleogeographic reconstructions, regional and local tectonics, and the origin and evolution of curved orogens. In addition, we solicit contributions that apply magnetic anisotropy to geological problems, such as to examine pluton emplacement, to determine volcanic and pyroclastic sources, or explore tectonic deformation at all scales and sedimentary processes. The use of magnetic fabrics to correct or test the validity of paleomagnetic directional data are particularly encouraged.
